Recently I rediscoverd www.podiobooks.com and I must admit that this platform has evolved incredible well. You should have a look how many books are already published and try some on yourself.

I have subscribed to Space Casey which has been the Mark Time Gold Award Winner in 2007. It’s easy listening and great fun – definitely a must listen to.

Es ist echt erstaunlich, was die Hexbug Nanos so drauf haben. Ein wirklich kleiner, zuckersüßer und unheimlich flinker kleiner Kerl - ein Mikroroboter von Innovation First.
Ich vermute, daß zunehmend mehr von solchen intelligenten Spielzeugen auf den Markt kommen wird. Mit zunehmender Verkleinerung und entsprechender Engergieversorgung könnten solche Systeme auch wirklich bald nützlich werden. Man denke nur an Sensornetzwerke, die sich bewegen…nur eine Frage der Zeit.

Momentan kann ich die Hexbugs nur als Weihnachtsgeschenk empfehlen. Leider gibt es in Europa noch keinen Vertrieb, aber es besteht die Möglichkeit direkt zu bestellen und mittels DHL könnte es sich noch rechtzeitig bis Weihnachten ausgehen – ist aber dann doch etwas teurer.

Durch Email, SMS und andere verkürzte Kommunikations- formen tritt die Lesbarkeit und Verständlichkeit von Texten immer mehr in den Hintergrund. Was wir einmal in der Schule gelernt hatten, gerät immer mehr in Vergessenheit. Vielleicht bietet gerade die Weihnachtszeit eine Gelegenheit die eigenen oder auch fremde Text auf Verständlichkeit zu verifizieren.

Ich hab da ein kleines Online Werkzeug entdeckt, das durchaus hilfreich sein könnte – der Textinspektor.

Einfach mal ausprobieren….

Auf der PDC wurde die Verfügbarkeit des .Net Microframework 4.0 unter der Apache 2.0 Lizenz angekündigt. Damit wird ein wirklich cooles Environment endlich verfügbar. Ich kann nur jedem empfehlen, das Microframework auszuprobieren und über die tolle Integration mit Visual Studio zu staunen.

Recently I got my Emotiv SDK with the wireless neuroheadset. It took several months till they were able to ship but finally it’s here – it works and it’s really fascinating.

I have tried all the demos and tools and partially succeed with neuro training. The basic neuro signal acquisition seem to work quit well but I struggle with the special training patterns in the cognitive suite. “The Cognitiv suite reads and interprets a player's conscious thoughts and intent. Gamers can manipulate virtual objects using only the power of their thought!”
The cognitive trainings has been quit intense and sometimes really frustrating as long as I was training in the control panel only. But when I linked up the neuro activity detection with e.g. Powerpoint to switch slides it immediately became a very concrete and reasonably control loop. It’s nice to control Powerpoint by emotion or at least by thought.

I hope Emotiv will release a 64 bit Version of the SDK which is compatible with Windows 7 soon. This is a really cool device which might get a lot more attention soon.

There is an interesting discussion going on about artificial intelligence outperforming humans. This publication Science Worry Machines May Outsmart Man gives a very complete picture about the recent discussion.
